International Online Marketing Challenge 2020

Do you want to learn more about online marketing? Do you want to learn which tools and platforms can be used? Do you want to act as the online marketing manager for a company and run a real live online marketing campaign? Come and join our International Online Marketing Challenge!
In collaboration with the Chambers of Trades and Crafts of the Cities Dresden, Leipzig, and Chemnitz as well as the Internationalization Initiative of the Saxon Economic Development Corporation, the International SEPT Program and the Fachkräfteallianz are organizing the International Marketing Challenge. This challenge is unique in that it connects students currently enrolled and based at a Saxon tertiary institution with local companies in order to promote their products on the international market online. The students become acquainted with different online marketing tools such as LinkedIn as a tool of marketing for SMEs (webinar on 15th May), the opportunity to participate in a Google AdWords boot camp (tba), online marketing and customer profiling (webinar by Leipzig University, tba), introduction to Social Media Marketing (webinar by Leipzig University, tba) and overall gain a deeper understanding of the most important online marketing tools.

Ten local companies from Saxony who are interested in expanding to international markets have signed up to participate in the Online Marketing Challenge. The companies come from many different sectors. The companies will set goals for the students as to what they would like to achieve with the online marketing campaign, e.g., increase sales for a particular product, increase traffic to their website. In order to achieve these goals, the companies will each provide a budget of €500 for the students to spend on the marketing campaign.

It is then up to the students to create a suitable online marketing campaign within the budget to reach the goals set by the company. Three exciting months will follow as the students get to run a real live online marketing campaign and act as the online marketing manager of a company. The group of students who come closest to achieving the goals set by the company wins the challenge and will receive their award accordingly.

Please apply by 30th April 2020 using the application form below. Please note that this challenge is only open to students currently enrolled at a Saxon tertiary institution. Due to the Corona outbreak, we will have to shift the OMC into a full online-based matchmaking and online-based project. This means all classes, workshops, consulting will be delivered in web-based sessions. The kick-off session would be on 5th May 2020. We will send you more information closer to the time.
